The volunteer, the club, the coach, the official

In the 11th year of these awards, we are inviting you to tell us the inspiring story of a volunteer you know. Without all of you and your outstanding contributions, we wouldn’t be able to make our sport happen across England.

The Volunteer Awards 2018 are our chance to celebrate and recognise the unsung heroes amongst all of our volunteers in the Athletics and Running community – but we need your help to say ‘thank you’ to all those people – it can’t happen without them.

Make someone’s day and let them know how much their support means to you and the sport, thank them for how much time they give you and your club, how dedicated they are, and recognise the incredible impact they have in your community. Get nominating now!

The awards are proudly supported by Track & Field Tours and our volunteering partner, Spirit of 2012.

What happens next?

After nominations close, our panels will review and choose the winners for our Regional Awards, which will take place between August and October. Regional winners are put forward to an external panel for the chance to win one of our prestigious National Awards, with the overall winners invited to the 2018 National Awards & Hall of Fame Ceremony, on Saturday 13th October 2018. We’ll keep you up to date with all our regional and national volunteer winners via our website.

Awards criteria – what are we looking for?

We’re not simply looking for how long someone has been volunteering in their role; they might have only been volunteering a short time but have made a big impact. Focus your nomination on the impact, who has made an impression within the past 12 months? Your nomination should be really clear why your nominee meets the criteria for that award – who couldn’t you do it without? The quality of the nomination is absolutely key – it is not decided by vote, but by our awards panel. Please note that organisations are encouraged to nominate themselves.
